Our History

The agency was founded in 1973 in Grand Blanc Township by John E. DeCew. At that point John had been in the insurance business some 18 years. He decided it was time to establish his own independent agency if he was to accomplish certain long term personal and business objectives.

Since those days when the Agency consisted of one agent and one inside staff assistant, growth has been steady based on the Agency's Commitment to provide:

  • Reasonable Pricing

Now nine agents and ten support staff service well over 5,000 individuals and family units and 600 business concerns through central Michigan.

If the past is any indication of the future, Hallmark will continue to serve and grow. One segment of the Agency business growth plan is "Special Plans Marketing". Each member of the agent staff has developed special expertise in well defined business segments. That expertise has been carefully matched with our carrier's ability to produce cost effective coverage packages to suit the special needs of that segment. This "Special Plans Marketing" Concept leads to broader coverages and better service at lower costs and on that foundation the agency will continue to grow.
